Who can usually apply

  • Primary teacher (classes 1 to 5): class 12 plus a teacher-training diploma or degree, and TET, as the notice says
  • Trained Graduate Teacher (classes 6 to 8): graduate plus B.Ed and TET or CTET
  • Post Graduate Teacher (PGT): postgraduate plus B.Ed
  • College lecturer or assistant professor: master's degree with NET, SET or PhD as per the rules

How selection usually works

  1. Eligibility test such as CTET or a state TET (a qualifying certificate)
  2. Recruitment written exam (KVS, NVS, state boards) with subject and teaching-aptitude papers
  3. Interview or demonstration class for some posts, then document verification

Subjects to cover

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
  • Language I and II (Hindi / English)
  • Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Science or Social Studies
  • Subject knowledge for PGT and TGT posts
  • General Knowledge and Reasoning

How to prepare

  1. Check whether your post needs CTET or TET first: the certificate is a separate exam
  2. Cover child development and pedagogy: it is a scoring section in every teacher exam
  3. Revise your subject at the level of the classes you want to teach
  4. Practise language and teaching-aptitude questions
  5. Solve previous TET and recruitment papers, and watch for state-specific rules
